4 Simple Ways to Boost Your Nutrition in the Morning

I have always been a morning person. As long as I can remember I have always been the first person up, as my natural clock is just simply set that way. I can count on one hand the times I pulled all-nighters in college (not that I am proud of it... I certainly wish I could have hung with the crew without being a tired grandma). There is something about the freshness of the morning that I have always loved, the feeling of a new day and that start of something new. 

Along with being a morning person, I have also always been a breakfast person. I am literally STARVING the moment I wake up. In fact, I am thinking about what I will have for breakfast as I am going to sleep the night before. Anybody else like this? I know so many people who claim they just are not breakfast people. Something I will never understand. Just like I don't understand people who don't like chocolate. But I will still be your friend. 

Whether you are a breakfast person or you are trying to be a breakfast person I have made a list of really simple ways you can boost your nutrition and daily essential needs right here. There are many people who claim smoothies are not a meal. And I agree, as a lunch that is just not enough fuel. But to boost your digestion and metabolism for the day I think it is a perfect way to start the day. And it gives you an opportunity to get nutrients that you might not get later. 

The superfood craze is very overwhelming, and it feels like there is something new and trendy and a must have every other week. But hopefully me sharing what I like is helpful, and if it isn't there are so many other options out there for you. 

1). Smoothie Enthusiasts or Wanna-Be Smoothie Enthusiasts ::

Berry Spinach Superfood Smoothie |

1 banana

Handful of spinach leaves

1/4 cup frozen organic berries

1 tablespoon of almond butter

1 teaspoon maca powder (to boost your vitality + regulate hormones)

1 tablespoon hemp seeds (omega-3's + brain fuel)

1 teaspoon reishi powder (adaptogen, immune booster + calming)

Avocado Cacao Brain Booster |

1 ripe organic avocado

4). Sexy Coffee 

Considering my boyfriend owns his own roasting company (Middle State Coffee) I am completely in love with a perfect cup of locally roasted black coffee. However, I also am open to dressing up a cup to boost my nutrient needs for the day. I was in Steamboat Springs this weekend when my friend Kat made her coffee all sexy and frothy and I asked her to do the same and instantly fell in love. So here goes it. Sexy Coffee. 

1 cup of coffee

Splash of almond milk (I like Califia Farms)

1 teaspoon coconut oil (omega 3's, brain fuel, healthy fats)

Smiggin' of raw coconut sugar 

Blend in a blender or whatever device you half to froth and enjoy!
